A card CardJar has never heard of still works perfectly. You type a name, pick a colour, and it sits in the jar beside the rest. Recognition is a convenience, not a requirement.
Why the whole list ships inside the app
Most apps would fetch a retailer's logo when you add its card. That single request tells whoever runs the server that you hold a Boots card, and repeating it across a wallet rebuilds your entire card set out of an access log.
So CardJar does not do it. All 12 countries together are a little over a hundred kilobytes, they are compiled into the app, and the app makes no catalogue requests at all. A new list arrives with a new version of the app.
